New Zealand Abalone (Paua Shell) is the most colorful abalone shell in the world. Unique to New Zealand, paua shells are harvested from rocky coastlines.
The Kiwi bird is an odd type of bird as it cannot fly. It has hair-like feathers, short and stout legs and a long beak. It is the only bird with nostrils at the end of their long beaks.
It's the national icon of New Zealand and New Zealanders have been called "Kiwis" since the First World War by Australian soldiers.
Paua is the name given to abalone species which is found only in the waters of New Zealand. The shells make beautiful colors and patterns and is used in the making of figures, jewelry and other items.
