Sol (KM 218.2) is the key date of the series with a total mintage of only 5000 pieces, which make this full sized crown TWICE AS RARE as the 1925 Guatemala Quetzal (with a mintage of 10,000 pieces). Like the Quetzal, most were melted.  Unlike the Quetzal, this coin was not saved as special, as it was just another coin issued for general circulation during a world wide depression.  Eventually, the rarity of this, and other Peruvian crowns will be recognized.
The coin is as pictured,  and is very difficult to find.
When silver first rose to .00 per ounce in the early 1960s, the melting began.
Lima, Peru has always been a center for silver bullion.  In the 1980s spot silver soared to .00 per ounce silver which caused another rash of melting.
More recently the .00 per ounce price was again reached,  fresh melting was sparked which has not subsided.  As the price of silver recovers, and eventually retests the .00 level,
these coins will only become scarcer as more and more Peruvian silver soles will make their way to the smelter.
I have had this coin in my possession for more than 55 years.
This 1933 Sol is definitely an heirloom, and should be passed on to future generations.
