Description
This Peruvian coin of the Ibero-American Series III Traditional Dances and Costumes depicts a folk dance from the indigenous Chanka culture.Originating south of the Andes, the Danza de las tijeras, or "scissors dance," consists of two or more dancers in a competition, each contestant accompanied by violin and harp.
Considered a great humiliation if the scissors fall from the dancer's hand while performing:
