    Description

VINTAGE 1960s 8mm COLOR Amateur Film HOME MOVIE
This auction is for one of many films that I will be auctioning separately. These came from the estate of a world traveller. I have other 8mm movies from the the Orient as well as Europe to be listed next week.
The listing in this auction is for an 8mm home movie taken solely in Mexico in 1967, almost 55 years ago! It is about 19 minutes long and contains wonderful views in Mexico including a number of ancient sites. I've never been there myself however doing some research I found a few sites included in this film.  This would be great for any researcher trying to compare what these sites were like over 50 years ago. See the photos for some of the places visited. I just took photos of the screen so the images are not perfect and may be slightly blurry due to the movement of the camera.  A couple of the locations included are shown below. I am sure there are others based on the time in the movie but I will leave that research and run up to the buyer. I mostly included photos of the ancient sites but there are also images of the hotel, locals, a street market, a woman making a pot, and other great views!
    XCARET
Also located in Quintana Roo, Xcaret was an important Mayan trading center. Visitors can explore many building from the Late Post-Classical period. Travelers can also visit nature preserves and learn more about the day-to-day life of the Mayan people while visiting Xcaret.
    CHICHEN ITZA
    Yucatán
The major urban center of lowland Maya culture with numerous monuments of world importance and fame. Chichen Itza became an important center around 600 AD and remained such a center until its fall around 1000 AD. Some of the best-known monuments are El Castillo pyramid, the Great Ball Court, Temple de Los Guerreros, El Caracol observatory, Ossario pyramid.
The film itself is in excellent shape. I was able to feed it through the projector with no issues and it played perfectly. However I would suggest having it moved to digital before the film degrades further. It does not have sound. This film is about 19 minutes in length.
