Some light scratches on the chrome.  Wire has like it burned..  And its old. Look at pictures please.
Please note tbis is a vinatge item and even though it works great. . The wiring is old many times like in  lamps, appliances,  etc, vintage items it is advised to rewire the item to avoid a fire hazard.
The dark and light does work. Everything works.
